M83 (aka French musician Anthony Gonzalez) have been around since 2001 and have definitely earned some performance cred. They’ve opened for many acts in the US and UK including Kings of Leon, The Killers, and Depeche Mode. With the arrival of their latest album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming” I can say without hesitation this is finally M83′s time to shine. “Midnight City” the first single from “Hurry Up..” was quietly released this summer and the reaction has been building over the last few months mostly due to some amazing remixes of “Midnight City” being released recently. My favorites are the booming Man Without Country remix and the sublime Trentemøller remix. Well it’s official! The young guns are taking over the Electronic Dance Music scene and moving some of the veterans off the charts. Today’s Song of the day are from two teenage (that’s right 19 and 18 respectively) DJ/Producers from the Netherlands, Hardwell and Nicky Romero. “Beta” is a pure dance floor anthem and it will definitely be making folks sweat worldwide. Today’s Song of the Day comes from Junior Sanchez, a New York based DJ/Producer who has remixed tracks for Madonna, Gorrilaz,Daft Punk, Placebo, Shakira, and Róisín Murphy, to name a few. Today’s Song is a full-on House Music anthem with a little added Latin flavor, booming beats, and sweeping vocals. This remix makes this song a perfect marriage of East meets West as Swanky Tunes are Russian electronic group with a penchant for big beats and dramatic presentation. The remix works and it works well, I am tapping the keys with the beat as I type this and I can only imagine the amount of heat this song will create on the dance floor. Today’s Song of the Day is a real treat, it’s like a musical Reece’s peanut butter cup and these two taste go oh so great together. The song “Lights” is the title track from English singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding’s “Lights” album. The original version is an upbeat little dance number showcasing Goulding’s love for electronic music (check it out HERE). Now enter Bassnectar with an advanced/bootlegged remix of “Lights” which adds a much darker tone to the song but keeps Goulding’s vocal front and center. We have heard this type of sound from Bassnectar before with several of his other tracks most notably “Magical World” which is his remix of Nelle Furtado’s “Turn Out The Lights”. Here that same formula of delicate female vocals over dark synths and booming percussion is perfected. This song absolutely begs to be blared in your car! While this might have had a bootleg start it has clearly been embraced by Goulding and is featured on Bassnectar’s new album “Divergent Spectrum”.

Now the versatile producer is set to release his next studio album in 2011 and the second advanced single is “Check It Out”. Today’s Song of the Day the new single from Zedd, “Dovregubben”. “Dovregubben” is an electro house track inspired by Edward Grieg’s highly recognizable classical composition “Peer Gynt, In the Hall of the Mountain King”. The young German DJ/Producer got his break in 2009 winning back to back Beatport remix contests then moving on to quickly gain more notoriety with his remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites”. Now Zedd is on the rise with the release of “Dovregubben” and his remix of Swedish House Mafia’s “Save the World” (a huge improvement over the original IMHO). It’s good to see some new young talent out there and it’s a safe bet that Zedd will be around awhile. Arty burst onto the scene in 2009 after his “Vanilla Sky EP” won a DJ Mag contest and support from Paul van Dyk, and Ferry Corsten. Then last year Arty so wowed the listeners of Above & Beyond’s “Trance Around The World” show that he is now signed to the group’s Anjunabeats label. “Around the World” is absolutely a club anthem and it takes bits and pieces from artists that are a clear influence on the young talent. Mustard Pimp is the french duo Baron and eKa, two DJ/Producers who came together in 2008. Fast forward to today and Mustard Pimp is signed to Dim Mak records and gaining a rabid worldwide following after releasing more than 25 mixtapes featured on thousands of blogs. Mustard Pimp’s music is unclassifiable, they experiment with diverse styles in their tracks, from House to Breakbeat to Electro (with a bit of Dubstep thrown in).
