The music world lost another voice yesterday with the sudden passing of Amy Winehouse (she was 27). In a world full of over produced, auto-tuned pop stars Winehouse stood out with her unique and soulful vocals. Today’s special Song of the Day is my favorite Winehouse song and I think an appropriate tribute to her musical career. “Back to Black” is the title track from her most popular and (possibly) final studio album. The song is a tip of the hat to many of the girl groups of the 1950s and Winehouse works magic over the tune with a voice so powerful it almost has a bit of a growl to it.
